Receipts and Return Policies
All department stores and almost all retail shops generally provide either cash slips or receipts upon purchase. Ask should they omit to give you one and be sure that details shown on the receipt are accurate. Return policy terms and conditions are usually stated on the receipts.
Larger shops and department stores will exchange goods if they are returned in good, original condition. However, returns are accepted only within a specified number of days as stated in the receipts (ranging from 1 day to 14 days) from the purchase date, and upon presentation of the receipt. Smaller shops may not be so accommodating, so always check goods carefully before purchasing. You may also want to check out the shop's return policy before making a purchase. Note that some cheap electronic goods (especially in Little India) termed as export sets usually has no warranty, make sure you test it on the spot as the shop owners will exchange on the spot if found faulty.
