Useful Singapore Websites
Here are the list of Singapore websites that are most useful in your everyday dealings in Singapore. It is by no means exhaustic. We welcome suggestions and inputs to improve this list.
NEWS
Todayonline. This is probably our all time favorite. This free newspaper by Mediacorp has been distributing mainly at the MRT Stations every morning for many years now and has given the incumbent SPH a run for their money. The electronic version is even more amazing, not only it is fast, it is highly interactive. The use of Silverlight technology enables the pages to be turn like a real newspaper. When you want to see the details, just click and a pdf file will be downloaded. Super innovative!

POLITICS AND SOCIAL
TemasekReview. Want to hear an alternative voice from the main stream media? TemasekReview.com has many featured articles that you will not find in many main stream media. Many articles are highly critical to the government policies. The discussions are almost always one-sided for the many unhappy dissidents to "throw stones" at the ruling party.
- http://www.temasekreview.com/ (it has since changed to www.tremeritus.com since 2012 reportedly due to a legal letter from Government owned Temasek Holdings).
MrBrown and YeoCheowTong. Want something light hearted and yet poking fun at the government and ruling party? Try these two satire websites especially the latter. This may be a way for Singaporeans and dissidents in letting go of their frustrations since they can not launch demonstrations and strike legally.
ChewOnIt often digs social issues with a deep sense of humour using cartoons Argubably the best cartoonist in Singapore. http://chewonitcomics.blogspot.com/

TRANSPORT
GoThere. This is a young company started by three young graduates in 2008. In many ways, they have done better than the Gorrila giant such as google map. The website features many innovative features before they were even found on google map. E.g. the launched streetview for Singapore in 2009 before google did in Singapore. Their website also features bus stop, car park and fare calculation for the various mode of transport. Other innovative features such as typing "from 038988 to Orchard Ion" in the search box will instantly give you the routes and the fares for the various mode of transport. For people who is driving, the website even calculates the ERP rates based on the time of travel. It is amazing how a few young chaps can do something so complex, way to go!

- http://mappery.com/Singapore-MRT-Map - Latest MRT maps
- Publictransport.sg - the official journey planner for public transport that are so badly designed that highly "un-recommended".
StreetDirectory. While gothere.sg is great, it lacks the refined details streetdirectory information that we sometimes needs for street navigation. This is where Streetdirectory.com comes in. Check it out.
Sgcarmart. Our all time favourite when it comes to finding the cheapest car park information in Singapore. While the user interface needs a lot of improvement, it makes up with its user friendliness and updated information. Currently the search facility still have not included postal code and road name search.

eBay. Surprising but it is true, there is no one-stop website that sells general stuff from ink cartridges, locks, books, computers etc. You can almost shop almost everything on eBay and most of the sellers are willing to ship the item to Singapore free or at a low cost. You will be surprise many items sold on eBay are cheaper than the local stores.
