An online scam involving cheap Universal Studios Singapore tickets has been making its rounds on the Internet.
The police received several reports last month from people cheated of their money when they tried to buy heavily discounted tickets to the theme park over the Internet.
The victims had transferred money to unknown individuals for the tickets, and realised that they had been cheated when they did not receive their tickets.
A 41-year-old woman lost S$500. She saw an online offer for seven tickets at S$380 and paid S$500 to buy 10 tickets.
The police said those who have similar encounters can call the police hotline at 1800-255 0000 or 999 if urgent police assistance is required.
The police and Resorts World Sentosa have advised guests to purchase tickets to Universal Studios Singapore either at the on-site ticketing booths or through its official website, to ensure that the tickets are genuine.
