A TRANSMISSION operator with a media company who paid a 14-year-old prostitute for sex two years ago was jailed for a year on Friday.
Muhammad Fadhli Rezlan, 25, also contracted genital herpes from the encounter, his lawyer claimed.
The court heard that in September 2009, the girl was soliciting customers outside the Summer Hotel in Lorong 22 Geylang.
One night that month, he approached her and she told him she charged $50 for a ‘short time’. They then went to a room he rented in the hotel.
They later exchanged phone numbers and the following month, he had sex with her again, this time for $45.
Soon after, she was picked up in an anti-vice operation and investigators found his Save & Closename among those of her clients.
He was arrested last October. He told investigators that although the girl had told him she was 18 the first time they met, he had placed her age at 17.
The prostitute is now in Girl’s home. Muhammad Fadhli could have been jailed for up to seven years or fined up to $10,000 or both.
