Please Give Way to Ambulance, You Inconsiderate Drivers!

Recently, an ambulance carrying a patient to Changi General Hospital was stuck in traffic, and the delay may have eventually cost the life of , Mr Lee Khoon Bock, who had suffered heart failure near the East Coast Food Centre during the 5km Passion Run. Witness say that even thought the ambulance had its siren and lights on, some drivers still refused to move aside. This tragic incident surely marks the nadir of Singapore’s well-known reputation for ungracious drivers. (The Sunday Times, 29 May 2010)

The police issued 19 summonses in 2009 to motorists who did not give way to emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire engines, its spokesman told The Sunday Times.
